Hon. I.C Quaye who is the chairman of the Hajj Board emphasized in his speech that, " I bring you felicitation from the National Hajj Board on this auspicious meeting to address you and to the people of Ghana on the overview of this years HAJJ which happens to be the second year of the current board.

The presidents' unconditional readiness to facilitate the pilgrimage of 432 leftover pilgrims in 2016 by the previous board won the admiration of the Muslim Ummah".

Again, the only hitch that nearly marred the efforts of the Board in 2017 was the invasion of Ghana 's camping site at Mina by Ghanaian immigrants, both resident and non-resident in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Region and further abroad. More than 500 of these intruders occupied designated Ghanaian tents before the arrival of our pilgrims. The pilgrims were stranded, but for a while. Meanwhile the Hajj Board had the option to invite Saudi security personnel to evict these invaders but had to exercise a lot of restraint due to the possible ramifications of such an act".

According to him, "five member delegation led by the chairman of the Hajj Board Sheikh I. C Quaye participated in the 2018 post Hajj Conference in Jeddah Saudi Arabian under the auspices of the Ministry Of Hajj and Umrah. The Ghana Consulate in Hedda was in attendance led by His Excellency the Ghana Ambassador to the Kingdom.

The conference as named sought to evaluate the 2017 Hajj, identify strengths, weaknesses and serious gaps in policy implementation and provide recommendations for the betterment of Hajj operations. The ultimate goal was to ease the burden of pilgrims during Hajj. Signed the following agreement with the Ministry Of Hajj and Umrah and various Saudi Service Providers:

(1) The Establishment for pilgrims from Africa and non- Arab Countries in Macca-Mouassassah

(2) United Agents Office
(3) General Car Syndicate
(4) Flynas Airline Company
(5) Adilla Establishment Service
(6) Saudi Civil Aviation Authority".

These contractual agreements are key requirement in seeking Royal approval to participate in the Hajj. It is  only when prior payments are made in full within the specified time that visas are granted. The Hajj season was opened in April 2018 while payments were to end before the end June 30th 2018,he said. Advertisement in six local languages GA, Hausa, Alan, Ewe, Dagbani and were produced and played nationwide of radio and television stations. Online platforms and radio created by the board were  not left out. The online streaming radio application named Ghana Hajj voice can be listened to our Website".

Furthermore, "the  huge financial and moral support and co-operation accorded the Hajj Board by the Executive, in particular the President Nana Addo and his Vice Dr.  Mahamoudu Bawumia, with the cooperation of the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta accounted for the successes chalked already".

This year 13 hotels have been rented for a total of 5,000 pilgrims in the same locality. The pilgrims will be fed twice daily throughout their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as mandated by the Saudi Authorities. Pilgrims have undergone health screening by the medical team of the pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana. A second screening exercise shall be undertaken on arrival at the King Abdul Aziz international Airport at Marina".
