Obour blames the slow growth of music in Ghana on the inordinate taste for foreign music

The President of the Musicians Union Of Ghana [MUSIGA], Bice Osei Kuffour has blamed the tortoise pace at the which the music industry is growing on the inordinate taste for foreign songs by radio and television Djs.

According to him, Ghana is one of the few countries where foreign songs dominate on radio and tv while local contents sit on the shelves and become dusty.

Obour who was speaking at the maiden edition of the Zylofon Media Industry Party indicated that “There’s another challenge that I don’t know how to theme, it’s the fact that Ghana as a country does not boast of its own, Ghana is one of the few countries that play more foreign content on radio stations than local songs.”

The President further indicated that with the disunity in the industry, there is always a problem when it comes to collective bargain for people in the industry.

He used the opportunity to call for a review of laws in order to help in the growth of the industry.
