WAEC AWARDED FIVE BEST STUDENTS IN GHANA


The West Africa Examination council today Awarded Five best students in Ghana at Asare Menako Hall in Accra. The first winner was Jochebed Adwoa Sutherland who was a student at Holy Child Senior High School,Cape Coast.

A science student and she started her junior School at VRA International School.She was awarded with $ 500 WAEC FUND and Laptop,studying in University of medical school. Audrey Emefa Awuttey, a student  of Holy Child Senior high school, cape Coast. A science student as well.

She had her Junior High school at (Ancilla primary and JHS).Audrey was awarded with $ 600 WAEC FUND and two (2)Laptops as a second prize and a student in University of medical school. Third winner was Rachel Amaning Kwarteng,a student of Aburi Girls Senior High School, Aburi. She also a science student, had her Junior High school at Happy kids School. Rachel Amaning was awarded with $ 500 WAEC FUND and Universal Merchant Bank added ghc 5000.00. She now studying in University of Medical School.

The fourth person was, Hazel Asantewaa Kissi-Dankwa. A student of Aburi Girls Senior High school, Aburi. She is a Business student. She was awarded with $ 400  and Laptop WAEC FUND to enhance her University education. The last and not the least,Chris Delanyo Yao Ackotia. A student of Achimota Senior High School, Accra.General Arts student, He was awarded with $400 WAEC FUND and Laptop to further his University education.

Hon. Dr. Matthew opoku Prempeh who is Minister of Education was the guest of honor and prof. K. Opoku Amankwa also chaired the program.

The Minister emphasized in his speech,"It is my pleasure as we gather here to celebrate a group of outstanding young men and women who achieve excellence at the 2017 West Africa Senior High School Certificate Examination. It is always expiring to join young high achievers interact with them and encourage them further." Minister Congratulated WAEC and TEACHERS for such performance to be able to select these young brilliant students for Ghana.

According him, "At all level of our educational structure, Government is taking step to ensure that our education system is fit for purpose and responds to our meet to the 21 century to enable us to turn out more and more such brilliant young men and women who are gathered here this morning."

Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh made it cleared that, "President Akufo Addo, firmly believe that education is the ultimate key changer in our drive economic sustainability, which the Government is focusing on this vision.

We believe that, the country needs to maximize it human resources base in other to impact more positively on it's fortunes. Our free Senior High School policy, which was established in 2017, it was established precisely on giving opportunity to every child in this country to have access to senior high to improve his or her life,He said. Again, we don't believe also that, any child should be denial access to senior high School just because his or her parents can not afford to finance it."

Beyond free SHS as tool to improve access, we are also committed to improve quality through the supply of core subjects, text books,supply of teaching and learning materials, reform and Teacher training education and provision of infrastructures including class rooms and laboratories."
