"l am delighted to be a part of the maiden edition of the Macroeconomic policy Dialogue for chief directors of our Ministries, Departments and Agencies,a joint initiative by the United Nations Economic commission for Africa and the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration which is essential and a step in the right direction towards securing the economic future of our country. I wish to extend my profound appreciation to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and Regional integration for their effort in empowering our policy makers with knowledge, which will be beneficial in the execution of their mandates."  said Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia,

Again, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa through their tireless dedication towards the economic and social development of the continent spanning five decades, their unwavering commitment to research, data collection and analysis geared towards the establishment of a wholesome macroeconomic policy framework for Africa that advocates inclusive growth, value addition, private sector development, employment and sustainable development is especially laudable. It is therefore my humble prediction that, under your able stewardship, these week-long discussions will not only afford an avenue to ruminate over critical economic questions posed to our continent, but also, the opportunity to acquire a masterful grasp of national, regional and global economic trends, in view of national development,He said."

Vice president Bawumia made it cleared that, The economic prosperity of our country rests with a tireless and deliberate pursuit of economic reform by us policy makers. Our Ministries, Departments and Agencies are the vehicle that transports Government's hopes and aspirations to attain success, and you are in dispensable in the unraveling of Ghana's economic success story. Ghana's economic, has without a doubt, gone through a multitude of phases,It has experienced, at one point, an alarming plummet, and shaky rise at another. However, I am delighted to say that the growth of our economy in the past year has been largely resuming, with a current growth rate of 7.8per cent, the highest since 2014,with projections of an upsurge of 8.5per cent by the end of the fourth quarter of 2018.Additionally ,Government managed to reduce the rate of inflation from 15.4 per cent in 2016 to 11.6 per cent at the end of 2017,with a projected decrease to 10.3 per cent by the end of the first quarter of this year. These favourable macroeconomic indicators are not tell-talesigns of a strong and buoyant economy but also a call to devote more vibrant efforts towards the achievement of a resilient economy."

He added that, the success of Government's key flagship programmes duchess the 'One District One Factory', one village one Dam, planting for food and job' initiatives largely depends on diligent effort and collaboration from all sectors of the economy. Our chief Directors and other Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies who are at the helm of affairs have the arduous task of leading your respective institutions towards their realization. These programmes would go a long way to bolster Ghana's industrial sector and, with proper emphasis on value addition, propel our trade activities to new heights with the ultimate objective of creating jobs and alleviating poverty."

Vice president clearly said, "you have the principal obligation to eliminate mediocrity and ensure hard work and discipline at all times. We owe it to our nation Ghana to be shining examples of excellence, that way, our proteges would consider it a moral imperative to follow in our footsteps. Tom Peter, the renowned American writer once said that "true leaders don't create followers they create more leaders".Indeed, we must ignite in our staff, a genuine passion to serve our country Ghana, and nurture them into leaders we can all be proud of."
