The Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante-Apeatu has arrived in the Brong Ahafo regional capital, Sunyani for a working visit.

His three-day visit to the region is to, among other things, assess the security situation in the region and see the way forward on some security threats such as illegal lumbering, illegal mining (galamsey), and the nomadic Fulani menace that is rearing its head in the eastern part of the region.

Briefing the media on the visit, the Brong Ahafo Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Kingsley Augustine Oppong said Mr Asante-Apeatu will meet the regional minister, Hon. Kwaku Asoma-Cheremeh and the Regional Police Commander, Mr Tachie-Poku on some key security issues of the region.

He also said the IGP will commission a new police station at Aworowa in the Techiman North district and later visit the people of Kenyasi in the Asutifi South district.

The IGP is also expected to meet other police officials to discuss the welfare of the police force in the region.
