Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah Is Now CID Boss

The acting Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Mrs Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has been promoted to the rank of Director General of CID, XYZ News can confirm.

Her confirmation took effect from January 14,2018, according to a statement signed by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu.

It could be recalled that DCOP  Addo-Danquah was entangled in an audio conversation  believed to be a secrete recording  between her and  Kwame Asare Obeng also known as A-Plus in the  claim of corruption against Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Messrs Samuel Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso Boakye.

According to her the said audio recording purported to be a conversation between her and the accuser, had been tampered with adding that the audio was “doctored and/or edited to achieve a deliberate, mischievous and evil purpose.”

Her promotion was announced together with DCOP Anthony Tennyson Aidoo who was also confirmed as the Director-General of ICT.

Mrs Addo-Danquah became the Acting CID boss after COP Bright Oduro, the deputy CID boss proceeded on leave ahead of his retirement in January 2018.

Before she was made the deputy director of CID, DCOP Addo-Danquah was the Second in Command (2IC) at the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards (PIPS) directorate.

DCOP Addo-Danquah’s first station was at the Police Hospital Accounts Section as a constable after she joined the service in July 1990.

In 1992, she was promoted to the rank of a Sergeant after her 18 months of probation in the service.


DCOP Addo-Danquah completed the Kumasi Polytechnic (Kumasi Technical University) in 1990 with a Diploma in Business Studies Accounting Option.

As a Sergeant, she enrolled with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana in 1995 where she passed the Level two examinations, earning her her promotion to Chief Inspector.

In October 1998, she gained a direct entry to the Police College.

She had her secondary education at the Bompata Secondary.

Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah was born on August 19, 1969 at Konongo in the Asante Akyem district of the Ashanti Region.

She is married to Mr Ofosu Addo-Danquah, a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast.
