The leading and convenient network in Ghana MTN had Launched FIBER BROADBAND SERVICE   at college of surgeon in Accra.

Jamyonline had the opportunity to interview Mr.William Tetteh the acting CEO of MTN GHANA and he said,"It give me pleasure to welcome you all today's ground breaking event which is another significant milestone in the life of MTN and Ghanaians that is the official launch of MTN's FIBER BROAD BAND SERVICE.

He explained that, "without a doubt, broadband is the nervous system of today's new civilization. Access to high quality broadband services has therefore become a top priority for individuals, homes,corporate organizations and economies across the globe. At the 2017 edition of Broadband for sustainable Development Summit, Rwandan President Paul Kigame is quoted to have said that "The transformation impact of broadband on people's lives and global economies is no longer questionable, the remaining challenge is to unleash their creativity"

Per internet World stats, global average internet penetration as a percentage of population stood at 51.7% as at June 2017 with the highest growth of 976.4%  occurring between 2000 and 2017. Africa stood at only 10% during same period.

What this means is that, internet penetration across the world has grown exponentially in this decade but Africa is still lagging behind,he said."

"According to Research and markets, a renowned research company based in Dublin, Ireland, stated that the total number of Fiber to the home connections in Africa passed the 500,000 mark  in 2016 .Recent growth having occurred between 2014 and 2016.

"According to Mr. William Tetteh,these statistics mean that a lot more needs to be done to enable the unconnected to be connected especially in our part of the world. This is why MTN,in line with our belief that" everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected world " has provided fiber  broadband solutions to homes in some parts of Greater Accra Region (Airport, Community 25,Cantonment, Amasaman,Spintex,Afienya and Adjiringano)Central Region (Kasoa and Budumnuram),Eastern Region (parts of Koforidua) with ongoing deployments in Ashanti (Kumasi)and  Western, (Takoradi),and our commitment is to cover all the key cities in the country."
