“Who do you know” killing Ghana’s football – Sulley Muntari

Ghanaian football great, Sulley Muntari has said the “who do you know” syndrome is killing Ghana’s football.

According to him, although Ghana has raw talents that could turn the fortunes of football in the country around, some coaches (youthful teams) in the country take monies from players before they are picked.

Accorsing to him, most quality players are left behind just because they do not have money and that they do not know people in high places.

He indicated that the country needs to go back to the period when talent was the only requirement for selection into a National team because that is the only recipe for success in Ghana’s football.

“So we should go back to how it was back then and not about who you know but it’s your talent that will make you move forward and that is what we can do to bring the generation up,” he told GhOne TV.

“Look at the players that have played at the youth level in the past, we don’t have them anymore. So we should focus on our youth because there are lots of talents in Ghana but you don’t see in the national team.”
