Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association in 2009 launched the Garment and Textile cluster Initiative as the business aim that sought to promote the group and enhance the competitiveness of the garment and textile industry.

The Association on August 9, 2017 launched a Traditional Cotton Boxer Shorts at the College of Arts and Science. The first product which was initiated by the Association was launched to improve their performance as an Association.

Mrs. Florence Ankrah expressed that, this was not the first product of the Association but they started by sowing to companies and some schools. “We launched the boxer shorts to replace our traditional boxer shorts which our forefathers were using by name ‘chakoto’”.

Kofi Dwumah of JAMYONLINE asked the idea of initiating the boxer shorts. Mrs.Ankrah emphasized that they experience that the fabric which they use was not cotton and it was not good for our body. So they decided to bring the old form of boxer shorts into the system. They also have international companies they trade with. She also said that they are about sixteen companies joined together to come out with this initiative. The company will work hand in hand with the policy of the current government to enlarge the company.

They will employ people when the company grows. The company will take this initiative across the nation so she is encouraging all the stakeholders to be involved in any aspect of the initiative.
