Launching of C.I.M.G Award

The chattered institute of marketing Ghana ( C.I.M.G) launched their 28th ( C.I.M.G ) annual national Marketing performance awards. The launching took place at the Golden Tulip Hotel  in Accra.

Mr. kasser Tee, the vice president of the chattered institute of marketing  Ghana , briefed the media and the public on the institutes annual marketing performance awards scheme regarding preparations and expectations for the event.

It has been almost three decades (precisely 28 years) of consistent annual marketing awards that has tremendously grown into what can aptly be described as leading corporate performance awards in Ghana. As we take pride in the successes achieved by our awards, I pause to say confidently that the CIMG is very proud of these landmark achievements, which have been contributed immensely towards improvements in organizational and professional performances, and especially so for practicing Marketers.

As I indicated, the CIMG Marketing Performance awards have become the benchmark of individual and corporate organizations to assess their performances hence the institute has resolved to keep the stakes as high and as relevant as possible so that the standards by which we assess individual and corporate performances are not compromised. We are also committed to doing our very best in keeping the award processes simply transparent and fair to our key stakeholders. It is this level of commitment that has guided us, as a responsive institution , to constantly introduce new and progressive ideas, all aimed at adding new things to our processes, as well as new award categories.

What is new ?

Last year, we introduced an online system of filling the awards questionnaire by nominees as well as online assessment by our assessors  ( judges ) who are chosen from various sectors within the corporate world. We have initiated that system again for this years awards and as I speak now, nominees have been alerted to start answering the online questionnaires.

Equally, as a result of some changes regarding classifications within the financial service sector, the non-bank financial institution awards now has three categories as follows;

·       Finance company of the year.

·       Savings and Loans company of the year, and

·       Micro – finance company of the year

In the same vein, we have introduced the Telecom Company Of the Year, ( Allied and Support Services). This will cater for the large number of that sector. We shall continue to make such inputs and reviews in order to always bring life and excitement to the CIMG awards, since this is the surest way to keeping our awards relevant at all times.

It was this same principle that underpinned the choice of our theme for the year as well.

A theme that has so much relevance, looking at how activities of corporate organizations could be fashioned in such a manner to bring about immense benefits to corporate organizations and the larger Ghanaian economy.

The process of selecting award winners

The awards go through a very rigorous process, starting with corporate entities filling out corporate diaries for the activities within their awards areas for the year under consideration.

Secondly, adverts are then placed electronically, in the press, and sent out to request individuals and organizations to nominate candidates for the various awards categories according to the set criteria.

Nominated candidates are asked to complete a very detailed questionnaire to justify why they should be the preferred choice. The completed questionnaires and supporting schedules and evidences are reviewed with the support of focus groups, drawn from captains of industry and academia, and guided by our research partners.

Mr. kasser Tee concluded by saying, last year we commented on the arrival of several awards schemes on the Ghanaian scene. This phenomenon of proliferation of awards has even increased to even higher proportions. It is our hope that there will be sanity in what they and we all do such that mother Ghana will be the ultimate beneficiary.

As an institute with the longest standing awards in Ghana, we are ever ready to provide the necessary support to others in order to make award standards in Ghana quality depended.

On our own , the CIMG would like to assure all of you that we shall continue to explore ways of improving the standards for the much celebrated CIMG awards in the years ahead.

He finalized it by saying, we would like to acknowledge the fact that our awards would not have gotten to this stage without the collaboration and cooperation of you, the media, our research partners and especially our numerous sponsors. We appreciate  your support for all these years. It is our hope that all of you will continue to support the CIMG, going forward. To all corporate bodies, we at the CIMG believe that you will continue to cherish the numerous benefits that your association with the awards and CIMG generally, brings to your products, organization and personalities.
