Kwaw Kese receives rousing welcome in Swedru

As a prelude to the 2017 Akwambo festival
As part of the preparation by Olive joy concept towards the Agona Swedru Akwambo Festival 2017, organizers of the 2017 Akwambo festival officially introduced Emmanuel Botwe, known in showbiz as Kwaw Kese to the Swedru traditional Council, scores of people thronged the swedru palace to catch a glimpse of the onetime artist of the year.

At a news conference in swedru on Thursday, Kwaw Kese who hails from Swedru urged the people of Swedru and surrounding communities to endeavor to be part of this year’s Akwambo festival to help support put up a library complex for the people of Swedru. ‘’I Would like to appeal to corporate bodies, individuals in swedru and abroad to ensure that  they all help support this worthy project. The project will enhance reading and learning among the students in the community.

He pledged to help put up the library facility as his contribution towards the 2017 Akwambo festival.
The secretary of the planning Committee for the 2017 Akwambo festival, Mr. Samuel Okyere on his part explained why they have decided to embark on a project that would cost eight hundred and sixty thousand Ghana cedis (Gh 860,000.00)’’ It is important we celebrate this festival as always but as a community we have all decided that we need to encourage our children to study but we don’t have any library to enhance this and so it is important we all help put up this facility to inculcate the habit of reading in our young ones.”

He pledged that all money received by the council towards the library project would be accounted for to help ensure transparency.

The General Manager of OliveJoy Concept, Mr. Godfred Bopkin indicated that the objective of collaborating with the traditional council is to help them identify the hidden talents among the people and support them whichever way possible.

’’ Festivals are very good occasions to identify talents. The youth are endowed with hidden talents but until these youth are given an opportunity we cannot exhibit them.”

He also appealed to corporate bodies, individuals and other indigenes from swedru home and abroad to help make the 2017 Akwambo festival a memorable one.

Mr. Bopkin however thanked the chief and people of Swedru for reposing confidence in them to be a part of the festival.

The paramount chief of Swedru, Ogidigram Okrupi Nana Kwabena Asiedu Botwe II thanked Olivejoy Concept for their support towards the festival.

The festival is slated for August 13 and will end on August 20
