As part of the preparations towards the celebration of the Akwambo
 festival to be celebrated by the people of swedru in the the central region, the planning commitee has indicated its preparedness to help celebrate the festival in grandstyle.
'' We would ensure the ceremony is celebrated in grand style as this comes off every two years. We need to honour the gods inorder to receive their blessings in everything we do and so the celebration is very important to us''
In an attempt to explain why the  festival is held every two years to Kofi Amponsah of  Jammynewsonline, in swedru,the planning Committee chairman for the 2017 Akwambu festival, Nana Kwetu,disclosed that
 '' Planning for a festival calls for adequate preparations. The traditional authorities have to support every body who is involve in the celebration and so it requires a lot of money. Forinstance we need to provide food for all the children involve, the chief will sit in a palanquin, all these things requires money.''
Asked whether celebrating the festival every two years would not affect the traditions of the town, he said  the traditional authorities always put in place measures to perform the requisite rituals while the celebration takes place in the ensuing year to enable them prepare adequately.

 '' because we know the significance of the festival and it needs to be celebrated every year, we do not celbrate it  every thing in two years, we always ensure we perform the the necessary rituals to that is expected of us. we also plead with with the gods to accept our sacrifice for that period as we prepare for the ceremony.We usually celebrate it on wednesdays but in order to encourage all Ghanaians particulary people from Swedru to be part of the celebrations we  always shift it to saturday. Don't forget wednesday is a working day.''he added
Nana Kwetu who is also the family head of the Ananafo clan appealed to individuals, corporate Institutions, people from Swedru to help put up  a library facility for Swedru township to help improve the standard of education in the area .he said. ''Our major priorrity this  Akwambu festival is to put up a library facility which would contain books and an ultra modern ICT Centre to facilitate learning in our community.''
 The 2017 Akwambu festival begins on August 13 and ends on August 20. Some of the activities  for the occasion include Durbar,  Food bazaar,Beauty pagent,and sporting activities.
He also commended Olivejoy Concept for partnering them to organise the 2017 Akwambu festival and assured them of thei continuous support to make the festival successful.
